Clothing is a material that we tend to give away when it doesn't suit our taste, we grow out of it, or it is not fashionable anymore. In today's world of fashion, there is a lot of clothing that is wasted and thrown away. This lei was about taking a piece of unwanted clothing and using the fabric to make lei, something that everyone would love to have. The simple process involved grabbing an old T-shirt that no one wanted, and cutting it into small squares, approximately 1" x 1" in size. Regular sewing thread was used to string the small squares together. The color of the lei was selected due to its vibrant similarity to the 'Iilma lei, the flower of Oahu and symbolic of love. This lei is soft and comfortable to wear.
